Abstract

This was an assignment we did, where we took inspiration from a poem called “Where am I from”. Just like the title suggests, it is a poem describing different parts of where we come from. The reason I chose this assignment to add to my portfolio, is because I struggled so much with it. It also taught me so much about where I come from and forced me to dig deep and learn about myself

I am from a place of opportunity

From a place of hope

Where the dream stays alive

Where the lights shine bright

 

I am from a place shared by many ethnicities

Where despite our differences 

we manage to coexist

I am from a place where different cultures created one

I am from a place that required a sacrifice

 

I am from a place of worship 

Where we pray five times a day

Where I learn dedication

I am from thankfulness

Where I learn to have gratitude

 

I am from a place where

I have been given an opportunity

By my parents who risked everything they had
